The further along in the 20th century, the more common it was for French-speaking families of eastern Quebec to have a small cottage in the country. They rarely went for the whole summer, however, but just for a few hours or days. It was nonetheless the opportunity to rest in an ideal setting. This was how the locals adapted the spirit of the summer vacationers to their own reality.
